Get ready for another impactful tax season with United Way of West Florida's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program!
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS initiative that provides free, accurate tax preparation for hardworking individuals and families. Locally, United Way of West Florida manages VITA sites across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, helping people keep more of what they earn.
This in-person training prepares new and returning volunteers to serve clients confidently and ensure every return is filed accurately and with care.
The roles a volunteer can select are:
- Greeter
- Intake Specialists
- Tax Preparers
- Quality Reviewer
During this session, volunteers will:
- Learn about the VITA program mission and the neighbors we serve.
- Review IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct and confidentiality practices.
- Receive and introduction to TaxSlayer and the electronic filing process.
- Practice completing tax returns.
- Practice completing intake and quality review forms.
- Explore what to expect and your site, how to work efficiently as a team, and how to make each client feel welcomed and cared for.
