The Pet Therapy Volunteer serves as an additional support to patients, families, and caregivers by making friendly visits with his/her certified therapy animal. Visits may occur in the patient's home or in a professional care setting.
Training Provided:
- Hospice philosophy and protocols
- Active listening and compassionate communication
- Understanding grief, loss, and end-of-life stages
- Confidentiality and boundary-setting
Commitment:
1-2 hours per week; schedule based on volunteer availability and patient needs.
