Understanding DV Part 1 is an overview of the definitions, statistics, patterns, and tactics of different types of abuse and violence. This part also provides an overview on how these types of abuse relates to the two main maltreatments, Household Violence Threatens the
Child and Intimate Partner Violence Threatens the Child. Special emphasis is placed on the critical distinctions between the two maltreatments and the importance of pursuing child protective investigations with correct one, or when to pursue both.
