Overdose Prevention Efforts in Florida

 This workshop will be facilitated by Jennifer Williams, Statewide Overdose Prevention Coordinator for The Department of Children and Families, Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

 After this workshop participants will know how to

  • Recognize and respond to an opioid overdose;
  • Understand different ways to obtain naloxone in Florida; and
  • Connect individuals in need with assistance through current overdose prevention initiatives in Florida.

 The current overdose crisis is continuing to escalate and most individuals have been affected by this crisis. In 2021, 6,442 individuals died due to opioids. Naloxone is an emergency response medication that saves lives as well as potentially prevents anoxic brain damage
