Join us for a night-time Halloween Edition of our monthly CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training, Search and Rescue. Get ready to put your skills to the test as we navigate through our Exercise in the dark. Don't miss out on this unique and mission-ready training event with actors.
Your role in this event!
At this training event, we need one actor to play the parent of the "lost children" we are searching for during this fun Halloween-themed search and rescue exercise. This actor will need to portray worried and frantic parents who lost their children during trick or treating. We will set up for the event at around 6 pm and finish close to 9 pm. We plan to bring props (a baby doll, and caution tape) to make it more fun and realistic. Even if you aren't interested in being an actor join us and bring your friends to watch our local Escambia CERT team in action!
We will also need an actor to play a "media reporter" trying to get the inside scoop on the situation. It will be our CERT member's job to handle it appropriately. This actor will be walking around asking questions and trying to test our CERT members.
What to bring:
- Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes
- Water for yourself (we will bring water just in case)
- Your best acting!
In addition to needing actors, we also need two volunteers to run a table for us. This table will act as a "check-in"/ information center. We need you to make sure all the CERT members are signed in and their paperwork is signed. We anticipate getting some locals to come by and watch our exercise out of curiosity. We would love to have help spreading the word on how important and fun it is to be a part of the Escambia CERT!
What these volunteers will be doing:
- Make sure all CERT members are signed in and have signed their paperwork.
- Stand at our table and talk to any observers about our free training.
- Hand out flyers and business cards
- Engage bystanders and explain why we are doing this exercise.
